Spin Coating Technique for Thick Film Coatings

  Spin coating technique is used for depositing uniform thick film (electrode) onto substrate (electrolyte). 1.The process begins by preparing the “vehicle”, which consists of a mixture of 95% terpineol oil and 5% ethyl cellulose. 2.For the electrode ink, use 0.2 ml of the prepared “vehicle” vigorously mixed with 140 mg of electrode powder (perovskite oxide) in an agate mortar until a dense ink is obtained. 3.Next, a sintered electrolyte pellet is placed onto the spin coater, and a small amount of the ink with the help of spatula is applied statically to one side of the pellet. 4.The spin coater is then operated at a speed of 6000 RPM for 30 seconds to evenly spread the ink across the surface. 5.After spinning, the coated pellet is dried in an oven at 105 °C for 20 minutes. 6.This process is repeated three times, resulting in three layers of electrode ink being applied to one side of the electrolyte pellet. 7.Finally, the coated pellet undergoes sintering at 950°C for...

        Make an electrode (Powder) material pallet by taking 250mg of powder at 5 tonnes. But first, take 270mg pure Powder and add 5% PVP to prepare the powder.       After pressing put in the oven at 1250 o C for 4hr by wrapping in the pure powder. And then again repeat the same step by flipping the side of the pallet.       Make the device for testing.        Pallet size(diameter) is nearly 11mm after firing. Before firring it is 13mm.       Four probes (gold wires) must be mounted at a 2mm distance.       Then place the device by putting it on the shaft in the oven and set the temperature at 850 o C.       Then start the measurement for (850 => 150) o C with step size of 30 o C.       Turning on the multimeter and applying the current as 5mA, 10mA, and 20mA.   ASR          For ASR first find polarization resistance (Final Point of EIS on Horizontal (Total Resistance) - Initial Point of EIS on Horizontal (Ohmic Resistance)).        Then make columns polarization resistance and corresponding temperature.       Change temperature to Kalvin and find 1000/T.  X-AXIS        Divide Polarization resistance by 2 (ASR).  Y-AXIS        Convert Y-axis type to Log-10 and Rescale it CTRL+R       Then Layer management and add top x-axis linked to y-axis        Double click top x-axis add values from 900 to 500 and change type to offset reciprocal.

EIS          Open the Origon and import the ASCI file          multiply real and imaginary impedance columns with electrode(cathode) area then plot real impedance on X and imaginary on Y-axis.       Set the X-axis values       Start Y-axis from zero and end at (X-axis final value – X-axis initial value )/2.        Divide y-axis with -1 to reverse it.        Make the graph as square       In order to add any line, go to the top bar then graph then add a straight line.        Multiple graphs can be opened in a single window by using the plot setup option by double-clicking on the graph the option of plot setup will appear
